[Review] The Face Shop x Kakao Talk Lemon Cleansing Foam (Neo)

The Face Shop x Kakao Friend Lemon Cleansing Foam (Neo)

Product description: The foam cleanser removes impurities with a soft and mild foam that contains Lemon and Herb extracts, leaving the skin neat and fresh.

How to apply: Dispense a moderate amount and apply liberally throughout the skin.

Product texture: Creamy, rich lather (foam) product.

Scent: Mild citrus scent, very tart.

Personal experience: I actually noticed the most apparent results with this cleanser, though it still wasn't anything very extraordinary. Considering the Acerola cleanser claims to have AHA, I figured that would actually be the best of the bunch, sadly that wasn't the case.

I was a bit underwhelmed using this cleanser until about the fourth day of use, I finally began to notice my skin appeared more vibrant and less dull. However, after seeing that actually changing my skin once, I never really noticed it making it brighter from that particular moment and forward.

I ended up with a method, since this product is naturally acidic, I knew it was going to be a bit drying so here was my minor solution: Lemon cleaner one day, follow with the Aloe Cleanser the next day, switch and repeat with each passing day.

I did notice this helped my skin from excessively drying, and I figured this was my best use of the product since the Lemon cleansing foam was quite drying.

I know most cleansers tend to dry out the skin a bit, though all of these cleansers (with a minor exception for the Aloe cleansing foam) are a bit too drying for the price that I paid.

Ingredients: Water/EAU, Myristic Acid, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Sorbitol, Glycol Distearate, Lauric Acid, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Bark Salvia Officinalis (sage) Leaf Etract, Parfum/Fragrance, Butylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Yellow 5 (Cl 19140)

Product rating: 2.5/5

Final thoughts: I bought it for the packaging alone, and I wasn't impressed with the overall quality of the product.

I wouldn't repurchase this, but it's a good use of decoration in my bathroom.

To be honest, I certainly overpaid for these cleansers, though I also bought them to write a review for the blog visitors from around the world.

This foam cleanser is what I would consider the bare minimum, a basic foaming cleanser and it performs very similar to the Naive (Japan) Aloe (click here to read this blog entry) and Peach (click here to read this blog entry) foam cleanser, which I bought for about 300 ¥.

The Face Shop x Kakao Friend Aloe Cleansing Foam (Muzi)

Product description: The foam cleanser removes impurities with a soft and mild foam that contains Aloe and Herb extracts, leaving the skin neat and fresh.

How to apply: Apply a quarter size amount onto fingertip and gently massage around the face (to neck, depending on your preference.

Product texture: Creamy (Aloe) foam cleanser, becomes a luscious foam with ease.

Scent: Lightweight Aloe scent, personally my favorite scent of the three, clearly an artificial scent but tolerable.

Personal experience: This product isn't all that bad, though just an ordinary cleansing foam that is quite nice. My experience with the other two cleansing foams were no more than sub-par, all of these cleansing foams have an artificial scent (fragrance) to them. I'm not a big fan of that, though I did personally enjoy the Aloe scent of this cleansing foam, after leaving it in the fridge and utilizing my clarisonic for a deeper cleanse, I don't notice much besides a very minimal (basic, decent) cleanse. The product isn't overly drying, and it happens to be the most moisturizing of the other two cleansing foams of this collaboration series.

Going into the use of this product, I knew the Aloe was meant to especially moisturize, after confirming in the ingredients - nothing more than that.

I have enjoyed using this product primarily for the scent and the fact it doesn't dry my skin after cleansing, however, I won't be repurchasing it since I'll be needing a bit of a deeper cleanse for my everyday life.

Not much in a difference in my skin long term, though what more can one expect from a cleansing foam, especially one that is a repackaged model and extremely cheap in South Korea.

This Aloe cleansing foam has a much better scent than the strange bubble gum like scent of the Naive (Aloe) cleansing foam that I purchased while in Japan. Not to mention, they both have the same cleansing foam qualities, seriously. . I spent about $9 (discount, originally $12 USD in store) just for this cleansing foam while the Naive one was only $3 USD.

The Face Shop x Kakao Friend Acerola Cleansing Foam (Tube)

Product description: A mild, natural cleanser, effective in cleansing and brightening, (contains fruit acid and rich Acerola extracts with nine other herbs)

How to apply: Apply a quarter size amount onto fingertip and gently massage around the face (to neck, depending on your preference)

In my own use, I use a clarisonic and gently apply dime size dots around my face, gently cleansing my entire face and sometimes down to the neck area.

Product texture: Creamy (Acerola) foam cleanser, becomes a luscious foam with ease.

Scent: Reminds me of a tart scent, with a hint of sweet cherry.

Personal experience: Truth be told, this product is simply a repackage version of Herb Day 365 Acerola foam cleanser, and so I didn't expect much from any of the three cleansers shown below. The cleanser is clearly seen as basic, they didn't put much effort into the original packaging either, in fact I only purchased these cleansers because the Kakao characters.

As for the Acerola cleanser, I took it into my own hands to further research this product, it actually has AHA (Alphy Hydroxy Acid) which eliminates the dead skin on the face. However, I'm a firm believer that many people abuse AHA, and this really isn't a route that I would take or suggest.

Products featuring AHA in moderation is fine, however, many are unaware that AHA increases photosensitivity.

Meaning, if your skin is already sensitive to sunburn (UVA/UVB damage) then you've really got to check to see that it isn't irritating your face. I personally have sensitive skin that really just gets irritated by too much sun exposure, because of this I will always try to use AHA products in moderation since I don't believe that I would need to utilize a product with it too much.

Oddly enough, this product is marketed for daily use and I cannot condone this or agree in the slightest. I personally recommend this product be used 3 times weekly, alternating with another cleansing foam. To test this theory out (though not a theory, really just a fact of matter)

At any rate, I did a trial and error period and used this product for four days in a row and didn't like the way it felt on my skin. It was much better being spaced out, though aside from a semi-pleasant scent, I didn't think too much of it.

After using it for quite some time, it didn't stand out to me as anything more than just another cleanser, with pleasant packaging and a nice scent.

My skin seemed slightly more cleansed than the average cleansing foam, though that's just because the use of AHA in this product.

The product is meant to clarify the skin (purifying, in a sense) and I don't believe it's a substantial factor in clearing the skin.
