[Review] A'PIEU x Crayon Shin Chan Good Morning Sorbet Mask

Ah, for those who have read my two previous blog entries, here's a 3rd product review for the following collaboration. .

A'PIEU x Crayon Shin Chan Good Morning Sorbet Mask

Product Description: A morning sorbet mask that moisturizes the skin as if a sheet pack was just applied, lightweight texture.

This product features the following major ingredients: Alaska Glacier Water (10%), Pumpkin Extract (10%), as well Hydrolyzed Collagen.

This cream is said to give rough and swelled skin a soothing, sorbet texture cooling and quick hydration effect.

How to apply: This product is to be used at the end of the skincare routine as a final step gel, gently scoop a desired amount and spread onto the face accordingly.

Personal experience with product: The scent . . I mean, let's start off on a positive note and try to continue from there, this sorbet like cream (gel) smells refreshing. Generally, I keep this product in the fridge and I've used it in more ways than one. Below I'll list the two different ways that I've used this product and a comparison, I would have to say the outcome of which I prefer was surprising.

First method: Ah, don't judge me but. . We all have days where we're in fact just running out of time and in a rush. Whether we woke up late for class, don't have much time to get ready as someone's waiting for you to get ready and go out or even rushing to work and not having enough time to apply a series of products for your morning routine.

Toner > (Final Step) A'PIEU x Crayon Shin Chan Good Morning Sorbet cream (gel)

l o l, as you can tell this is indefinitely when you're in a rush.
However, if you're in a rush and don't have enough time to fit in sunscreen, then just the gel + sunscreen.

I'm actually more fond of this way! Why? I'll explain right below, no worries.

Second method:
Toner > Emulsion > Essence > A'PIEU x Crayon Shin Can Good Morning Sorbet cream (gel) > Sunscreen

Generally this is my routine if there's a final step cream, however because this gel just drenches the skin immediately, if I follow all of these steps then I definitely will end with oily skin in less than an hour.

It's such a hassle and personally it takes quite some time to even let the gel sit and be absorbed into the skin. I mean, if I were to do all these steps, it would take about 15-20 minutes as I personally let each product sit for a certain amount of minutes.

Again, I'm not too fond of the 2nd method, though it serves well as a last minute resort.

Ah, if you shower in the morning too, this is perfect when waking up (drench your face in cold water, as to wake you up) apply toner and slather this product on for instant moisture and a bit of radiance too.

To continue with my experience, I personally have found it difficult to stack anything above this product, in particular my Biore Water Gel Sunscreen, since it's a 2nd layer of gel product that also creates a powder like effect to enhance the skin texture. The two just don't work in unison, unfortunately for me, I fancy a lot of sunscreen gels these days and don't have many non-gel sunscreens on hand.

I've tried to stack cc cream and bb cream before too, though I personally didn't like the result as it just seemed rather awkward in the end of result. It doesn't blend together, I would never use this product on a day that I'm wearing anything over it. I prefer and only use this product when my face is going to be bare, with the exception of sunscreen if you count that as coverage.

I do like that this product has a bit of collagen too, though as for my verdict, I cannot recommend this item. .

I would much rather use my Aloe Vera gel or Skinfood (Japan Exclusive) 90% Peach gel, I'll be writing a review for both soon enough. I have a lot of product reviews to finish and more photoshoots to take, so as always, I appreciate everyone's patience.

Above all, this product is a lightweight, moisturizing gel that replenishes the skin and gradually makes the skin appear more plump and radiant.

I can't get over the packaging either, A'PIEU really won me over with this one, seriously.

r.i.p my college savings for university, seriously.

Ingredients: Purified water, glycerine, alaska glacial water (10%), pumpkin extract (10%), dimethicone, sodium chloride, hydrolyzed collagen, white willowbark extract, lactobaccilus/soybean fermentation extract, portulaca oleracea extract, cinnamon extract, gold extract, cypress leaf extract, sodium polyacrylate starch, polysorbate 20, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp copolymer, ethylhexylglycerin, xylitol, menthoxypropanediol, phenoxyethanol, fragrance.

Offsetting Ingredients:
  • Phenoxyethanol  Preservative commonly found in a lot of products these days, though I try to avoid in products when possible, often I'll still use the product. For a more detailed analysis, click here. The ingredient is classified as low-moderate in the hazardous zone on the link provided.
  • Dimethicone (also called polymethylsiloxane) is a silicon-based polymer used as a lubricant and conditioning agent. To clarify, click here for further information on Dimethicone, though rated "low" warning, I'm not too fond in Dimethicone in products. This is just personal bias of my own, I would like to avoid it when possible in cosmetics.
Rate: 2/5 (2.2.17 - Updated rating on this product as it's very sticky (almost greasy) and doesn't appear to do anything but have a moisturizing effect.)

Please note: I rate products based on the overall effectiveness only, please be mindful of the ingredients and decide whether this is a suitable product for your own use.
Question of the day: Will you be purchasing this product?
note: I'm not sure if you can still purchase the collaboration edition online, I tried to buy more of the collaboration weeks following my haul and I couldn't find anything on eBay, except for one or two of the items that I already had.
